WP Rocket or W3 total cache

We have been W3 total cache for a while now and find it a nice plugin for speeding up your wordpress. Recently we would another plugin called WP Rocket and we love it for client sites. So what do we recommend for you to use? It all depends on your budget and the type of site you have. Below are advantages and disadvantages…

W3 Total Cache

The good:

  • Available free at wordpress.org
  • Good for dynamic sites were you can’t display to users cached version of pages but still want to use other caching options of the plugin. Example we use W3 for our project management system.
  • Allot of options to customize the type of caching and features you want to use.
  • Improves your site performance enough to bring your site a good standings with google.

The bad:

  • Takes time to get it going properly and running at its best.

WP Rocket

The good:

  • Fastest caching plugin on the market.
  • Easy to setup.
  • Is pretty optimized for google speed test out of the box. Almost all of the speed test issues can be clear.
  • Good for sites where you don’t need to load dynamic content on each page load.

The bad:

  • Paid plugin and no free version is available.
  • Not good for dynamic sites where you need to display content on each page load as its main feature is caching.
  • Not good for sites where permalinks are not turned on.
